Here’s the question. On an average day in November 2007, you could be reading 15.5 million other active blogs out there or surfing billions of other sites — so why are you here? My bet is that someone forwarded you this link and asked you to check SocialSphere out. Maybe you are related to one of our founders, maybe you were linked in from another blog, another post or another email. The point is this, someone you know or are likely connected to suggested you land here. This is the power of personal connections and technology. This is Web 2.0. We started SocialSphere sometime in the last year. The official date depends on who’s counting … was it when we first identified the need (11/06 with Jonathan)? The business concept (12/06 with Tim)? Came up with the name (01/07 with Joe)? Recruited our first partner (Craig, 02/07)? Designed the logo (with Chip and Alyssa 3/07)? Cashed our first check (04/07 with Linda)? Developed our positioning (05/07 with Mark)? Welcomed three new colleagues (06/07, Max, Leigh and Charles)? Moved into our new office (07/07)? Launched this site? Regardless of when we started, we are here today for one simple reason — to create Web 2.0 experiences that bring value to our clients. Whether we’re working with blue-chip global brands, major sports associations, large not-for-profits or public-private government partnerships — our company will be focused on giving voice, power and connections to the three “spheres” (customers, employees and business partners) in which our clients operate. It is obvious that the world is getting smaller every day and traditional means of mass communication are less effective every hour. Organizations have a choice — embrace social computing, tap into the commerce in your communities and collaborate — or step aside. Over the coming weeks and months, this space will be filled with insights and stories from the Web 2.0 universe we now live in. You will hear our point of view on a range of subjects we feel strongly about (and know a little about as well) including: how politics is changing the way companies are doing business, how and why the Millennial Generation is changing the world, what the drivers of the most successful social movements and online communities are, why Harvard Square is the best place to work in America, why Mark Cuban’s blog is underrated and why most traditional agencies are overrated. More importantly, we’ll be using this space to listen and to collaborate — we want to hear your story, know what you think and understand what keeps you up at night. Start by dropping us your email and adding to the conversation today — maybe some quick thoughts as to how you are using Web 2.0 and social computing, maybe an insight, or maybe just a funny story. john@socialsphere.net
