A twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Army, Fred Wellman provides senior level counsel, strategic communications, social media, media relations and government affairs advice to SocialSphere clients in the defense and public affairs sectors.
Fred served in multiple capacities over four combat tours in Iraq including leading the task force rescuing downed pilots for the 101st Airborne Division; serving as the Chief of Public Affairs for Multi-National Security Transition Command-Iraq; and serving as personal aide and adviser to Generals David Petraeus, Martin Dempsey, James Dubik and Frank Helmick building the new Iraqi Security Forces.
Fred earned a Bachelor’s of Science in International Relations from the United States Military Academy at West Point, graduating on the Dean’s List in 1987. He later attended the Harvard Kennedy School of Government as a Presidential Scholar/Public Service Fellow and Center for Public Leadership Fellow graduating in 2007 with a Masters of Public Administration and honors as a Littauer Fellow for outstanding academic achievement, public service and future leadership potential.
In 2010, Fred founded ScoutComms with his wife, and business partner, Crystal. The Wellmans currently reside in rural Stafford county, Virginia. |
